If you are looking for a delicious winter tea blend to enjoy on cold mornings or a super easy DIY edible holiday gift you have come to the right place! This spiced winter tea blend with dried apple wraps up really nice as a Christmas gift to your tea drinking loved one and only takes about 5 minutes to put together. It is aromatic and a little reminiscent of South Asian chai with a nice sweet, as well as tart, hint from the apple.
There is definitely a joy to putting together your own tea blend like with most homemade food and drink. Follow my recipe exactly as its written or try it and then tweak it to your liking. That is the beauty of your own blend. Enjoy!

Spiced Winter Apple Tea Blend
Makes roughly 1,75 cup of loose-leaf tea.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup of loose-leaf black tea, I used English Breakfast but Assam or Darjeeling would be other great options
0,5 cup dried apple slices, finely chopped
4 cinnamon sticks
4 tsp pink peppercorn
3 tsp whole cloves
3 tsp whole fennel seeds
METHOD:
Combine tea leaves and chopped dried apple in a jar.
Use a pestle and mortar to break the cinnamon sticks into small pieces. Small enough so that they fit easily into a tea strainer along with the other ingredients. Transfer the pieces to the jar with the tea and apple.
Add the pink peppercorn, cloves and fennel seeds to the pestle and mortar and bash them a few times to break them ever so slightly and release their aroma. Transfer to the jar.
Place a lid on the jar and shake to combine the ingredients. Keep stored in an air tight jar and brew as you would any black tea*.
*Most black teas are brewed at 100 degrees C for 3-5 minutes.
